Overview
- The Weigh in Motion (WIM) application exists to support agency management of weigh stations and over-height stations.
- Depending on the data sources available to you, you can:
- Monitor live traffic for violations – commonly used by patrol officers in the field
- Review historic data – commonly used for performance reporting
- Generate documentation for detailed review and for violation notices
- Many of these features have various options and complex interactions, described below.

- The location name. This is agency defined and usually includes the road name and nearest intersection or similar description.
- The direction of travel that is monitored. This refers to which side of a road the station exists and should be interpreted as N = “northbound”. These are always cardinal directions of N, S, E, or W. If the data doesn’t specify a single side of the road, the station could show N/S or E/W. Cardinal directions are approximate and should be easily interpretable using the map.
- A “Live station” button which links to that station’s real-time data.
- An “Analytics” button which links to that station’s historical data.
